A recognised world expert in technical and economic aspects of world oil supply and demand, OPEC policy and geopolitics, Dr. Manouchehr Takin regularly appears in world media and speaks at international conferences.
Manouchehr Takin is a London-based independent global oil and energy consultant with over 50 years' oil and gas industry experience spanning:
- Centre for Global Energy Studies, an independent think-tank in London founded by H.E. Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani, Former Oil Minister of Saudi Arabia
- Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretariat in Vienna (9 years)
- 14 years' experience in Iran with the International Oil Consortium, Amoco, Ultramar (exploration manager), National Iranian Oil Co. and Shell, as well as the Geological Survey of Iran and Anglo-American/Charter Consolidated.
During his career, Manouchehr Takin has carried out studies on many topics including:
- global oil supply and cost of production, including in-depth studies of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the North Sea
- the oil services sector in the Middle East
- geopolitics, global energy security, the impact of sanctions on the world oil market, and the future of the Middle East
- studies on the role of OPEC
- the Iranian economy, its oil and gas industries and gas export potential to Europe
- the role of technology in world oil supply
- nuclear energy, coal, gas and unconventional hydrocarbons in competition with oil.
Dr. Takin holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology from Manchester University, a PhD in Geophysics from Cambridge University and an MBA from the Industrial Management Institute, Tehran.
Dr. Takin also has board experience at mineral and hydrocarbon exploration companies.
